Who am I?
My name is Kayla Durkin and I have been teaching for five years. Over the past five years I have gained countless experience teaching over 15 different classes and nine different grade levels.
My first two years were spent teaching fourth grade where I was teaching every subject. I then moved into a secondary math position where I was teaching various math classes such as geometry, pre-algebra, and consumer math, along with keyboarding and computer applications. After two years in the secondary position, I once again switched rolls and I am now a 6th grade teacher teaching math, social studies, and reading.
Over the past five years, not only have I gained experience working with many different grades and subjects, but I have also gained the experience of feeling like a first year teacher within the many new roles I took on as a teacher each year.
Aside from my teaching career, I am the wife to an amazing man named Brent. We love all things outdoors and adventure including hiking and fishing, and even just relaxing in the sunshine.
In my spare time you can find me at Target looking for a deal, working on Cricut projects for my family and friends, or occasionally working out to stay active.
What is the Blossoming Teacher Series?
